Strategy& Space Consulting Team:
Internship I: ‘Assess the impact of European space activities on the gross domestic product’
The Strategy& Space Consulting Team is offering an internship within a project to help European policy-makers assess the socio-economic impact of European space activities.
The space sector generates wide-ranging benefits for society at large, both economic (transactional impact on gross domestic product and sales impact on enabled services and industries) and social (outreach, security, etc.) in nature. Assessing those impact is crucial to policy and decision makers both in evaluating new programmes and in communicating the value of investments in space. The internship will focus on the development of a methodology to assess the gross domestic product (GDP) impact of space activities in Europe and on the execution of a test case.
We are looking for someone with a strong interest in the space sector and a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics, possibly with electives in business or with a Master’s degree in business/economics. You will join our Space Team for 3 months to support the development of the GDP impact assessment methodology.
The activity would involve research into alternative methods to assess GDP impact of public investments and support in consolidating a single unified methodology to be used for European space activities. This internship would also entail the selection of a representative test case, the collection of the necessary input data, and the modelling of the GDP impact using the consolidated methodology. Strong excel modelling skills are desirable.
