J.M.Schröder is married and has one daughter and two sons. 

J.M.Schröder is an officer in the “  Orde van Oranje-Nassau” and received the Order of Merit of the Dutch Red Cross. 

He also received the Golden Medal of Honour from her Majesty Queen Beatrix.

On May 18th 1997 he was appointed as Doctor of Humane Letters, Honoris Causa, by the Hofstra University New York.

On December 15th, 1997 J.M.Schröder received the Golden “General Snijders” medal from his Royal Highness Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands for special services in the airline industry.

On the occasion of his Farewell as President and C.E.O. of Martinair Holland N.V. in December 1998 J.M.Schröder is honoured as Commander in the “Orde van Oranje Nassau” by the Minister of Transport and Waterworks on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Beatrix. 

In January 2000 J.M.Schröder received the “Travelmanager of the Century” award, which was handed to him by the Chairman of the ANVR, Mr.Ed van Thijn during the yearly Travel Gala In Scheveningen.

Since 1985 Honorair Consul of Mexico.

Since 1972 he was Chairman or Member of different Boards in Holland and other countries
