On the 26th of April, the Aviation Department is organising an excursion to the Royal Netherlands Navy bases in Den Helder. The visit will start at the navy yard 'De Nieuwe Haven' where a visit is planned to HNLMS De Ruyter. This air-defense and command frigate is a highly advanced ship fitted with a long-range radar for the purpose of intercepting ballistic missiles. 
After the navy yard, the maritime airfield 'De Kooy' is visited. This is the homebase for the NH-90 helicopters. The NH-90 is a multifunctional rotorcraft used for warfare, search and rescue, reconnaissance and transport.
