Michiel van Dorst obtained his Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), after which he started as a pilot at KLM. During his flying career, he obtained a MA in the field of Economics at the University of Amsterdam. At KLM, he was consecutively Operations Manager of the Boeing 737 unit, Vice President Air Traffic Management, and finally Executive Vice President Flight Operations, Deputy COO, and Accountable Manager from 2010. During that same period, he was a member of the Operations Committee of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Wings of Support. In 2016 he became CEO of Air Traffic Control The Netherlands (LVNL). In addition, he was a member of NLR’s Advisory Board from 2016 to 2020 and in April 2022 he will be appointed as Chair of the European CANSO CEO Committee, where he currently is Vice Chair.
